Jagoba Arrasate: “It is a tough loss”
Forward Ante Budimir scored for Los Rojillos.
Club Atlético Osasuna (3-2-5, 11 points) fell to Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña (3-5-3, 14 points) on Monday night at Estadio Abanca-Riazor. Forward Ante Budimir scored his eighth goal of the season to give Los Rojillos a halftime lead, but goals from Mario Soriano and Bil Nsongo completed the comeback as Dépor secured all three points.
Dépor created the first chances as forward Yeremay Pino tested goalkeeper Sergio Herrera in two early one-on-one opportunities, but the Osasuna keeper came out on top. Osasuna pushed forward and, just after the half-hour mark, Budimir capitalized on a Dépor mistake to break the deadlock. The Croatian international nearly doubled the lead minutes later, but defender José María Giménez intervened.
After halftime, the Galician side pressed Osasuna, which pushed forward but could not beat goalkeeper Leo Román. In the 64th minute, Soriano equalized with a powerful free kick from the edge of the penalty area. The goal shifted momentum to Dépor, and Nsongo scored the winner in the 87th minute, tapping in a loose ball from close range. Osasuna nearly equalized in stoppage time when midfielder Asier Osambela headed a cross from Kike Barja off the crossbar.
Osasuna will host Athletic Club on Saturday, Nov. 7, at El Sadar. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time (5:30 p.m. GMT, 12:30 p.m. ET).
Minutes: 94min.
